As president of Telcordia’s Advanced Technology Solutions, Dr. Drobot heads both the Applied Research Business Unit (AR BU) and Government & Public Sector Business Unit (GPS BU). As head of Telcordia’s AR BU, which consists of over 240 researchers involved in many aspects of Internet, broadband and information networking, and software technologies. Telcordia Applied Research group is renowned for its research and development which led to: ADSL, AIN, ATM, ISDN, Frame Relay, PCS, SMDS, SONET, video-on-demand, and Internet telephony. Dr. Drobot also serves as head of Telcordia’s GPS BU; Dr. Drobot is responsible for planning and implementing Systems Engineering solutions that are applicable to Federal, State and Local government problems. These solutions span telecommunications and IT areas, including networking and operations for traditional as well as evolving IP and converged general purpose and mission-specific networks. Areas of expertise include Security and Information Assurance as well as Business Process Outsourcing. Formed in mid-2005, the GPS unit is the single focal point that concentrates all Telcordia resources to accelerate Telcordia’s growth in the government space.

Prior to Telcordia, he was with Science Applications International Corporation for 26 years, a $7B Fortune 250 firm. There, he managed the Advanced Technology group and served as the Senior Vice President for Science and Technology.

Dr. Drobot's main research interest is the development of multidisciplinary, computationally-based tools for life cycle support of complex products. He has been the principal or key participant in the development of several large, scientific code systems. He has also published over 100 journal articles, is a frequent contributor to the literature and conference presentations and holds sixteen patents. Dr. Drobot is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, a Senior Member of the IEEE, and is also a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Sigma Phi Sigma, and Phi Kappa Phi. He serves on the Boards of the Optical Industry Developer’s Association (OIDA), the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS), the Connected Vehicle Trade Association (CVTA), the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI), and chairs the Communications Research Division of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA).
